This is a physical role requiring moving bulky items, full wheelie bins, and handling sacks, which will keep you fit!
We are seeking applications for this full-time position. We offer on-the-job training and instruction on the various vehicles and plant in our fleet, as well as our in-cab technology, to utilize and enhance your driving skills and knowledge.
While holding a full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card with at least 2 years remaining and a valid Digital Tachograph Card is advantageous, it is not a barrier to applying. We can assist in obtaining these credentials, and training to retain the cards will be provided and paid for by the Council.
You will be responsible for daily vehicle checks, including the cleanliness of both interior and exterior.
About the role:
Reporting to Supervisors/Managers, you will start and finish at Oakwood House in Marsh Barton. Parking is limited but free, and bike facilities are available.
Working hours typically start at 6am or 7am, mainly on a 'Group Team Task & Finish' basis, predominantly handling food waste.
The average hours are 37 per week, working 5 days out of 7, including catch-up Saturdays after Bank Holidays, Good Friday, and Christmas, with potential overtime and weather disruptions.
As a waste operative 7.5t C1 driver, you are responsible for your safety, crew safety, and public safety daily.
If you enjoy working outdoors and as part of a team, this role is suitable. Full PPE will be supplied and must be worn.
