We are partnering with one of the UK's leading fresh produce and FMCG distribution groups to appoint a high-impact Head of Finance for their UK Wholesale division.
This is a strategic senior leadership role, responsible for shaping the financial agenda, driving commercial performance, and steering a complex, high-growth, multi-site operation.
Operating within a fast-paced, margin-sensitive environment, this position requires a commercially exceptional finance leader with deep FMCG or fresh food sector expertise.
The Opportunity
As Head of Finance, you will act as the key strategic partner to the Divisional MD and senior leadership team - owning financial strategy, operational performance, and long-term profitability across the wholesale network.
You will lead a distributed finance function, influence cross-functional decisions, and play a central role in driving both organic and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance Leadership: Shape and execute divisional strategy, providing financial direction on growth, operational optimisation, and commercial initiatives.
Finance Business Partnering: Act as trusted advisor to the MD and senior leaders; challenge, guide, and influence key decisions across sales, operations, and supply chain.
Commercial Insight: Lead margin analysis, pricing strategy, cost-to-serve modelling, customer profitability, and scenario planning within a high-volume FMCG environment.
Financial Control & Governance: Ensure robust controls across multi-site operations, including SOX compliance, audit readiness, and risk management.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting: Own end-to-end planning cycles, board reporting packs, and consolidated performance insights.
M&A & Investment: Lead financial due diligence, acquisition modelling, integration planning, and post-deal optimisation.
Leadership of Finance Teams: Manage, develop, and elevate a geographically dispersed finance team, embedding a high-performance culture.
Continuous Improvement: Enhance systems, processes, reporting frameworks, and KPIs across the division.
Key Requirements
Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) with 5-10 years PQE at a senior leadership level
Essential: Experience in FMCG, fresh produce, food manufacturing, food wholesale, or other high-volume environments.
Proven leadership in multi-site operations and complex supply chain-driven businesses
Exceptional commercial acumen with demonstrable impact on pricing, margin optimisation, contract negotiation, and customer profitability
Strong strategic thinker who is still able to operate hands-on when required
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the gravitas to challenge and support senior stakeholders
