WHO WE ARE:
We are The Spence Bakery. Established in 2002, we are a busy retail and wholesale bakery with a shop in Stoke Newington, and a production bakery in Bethnal Green. We pride ourselves on being at the heart of our neighbourhood, bringing great bread to all. We supply cafes, pubs, restaurants and street food traders across London.
We are now looking for a baker to join our growing team.
WHAT THE JOB INVOLVES:
You will be part of a small team, working at night, and will be focusing on making and preparing doughs for bulk fermentation, hand moulding loaves and baking breads.
The role offers approximately 50 hours, across 5 night shifts per week (including weekends), working mainly between 19:30 and 05:30.
You will be based at our Bethnal Green bakery.
THE CANDIDATE WE ARE LOOKING FOR MUST:
* Have either at least 1 year professional experience or a suitable training qualification, with a focus on traditional artisan, long fermented, and sourdough breads.
* Have demonstrable knowledge of mixing, shaping and hand moulding, proving and baking (using commercial deck ovens).
* Be numerate and organized, able to calculate recipe scaling as required, and manage production levels.
* Be an effective communicator, with good spoken English.
* Be adaptable, happy working unsupervised, or as part of a small team.
* Be physically fit, with a hard working and committed attitude.
