Job Title: Lawyer - Adult Social Care
Location: Sheffield City Centre (with predominantly home-working)
Salary: £47,000 to £51,500
Contract: Full Time, Permanent (part-time considered)
Role Overview & Daily Responsibilities:
* Provide expert advice on adult social care law, including matters of safeguarding, capacity, funding, and residence.
* Take the lead on complex casework and represent the authority in court and tribunal proceedings, particularly in the Court of Protection
* Prepare and review a wide range of legal documents, from pleadings and witness statements to settlement agreements and counsel instructions.
* Deliver clear, solutions-focused guidance that supports both statutory duties and wider strategic objectives.
* Act as an advocate for the service in committees, panels, and external forums.
* Contribute to the growth of the team by sharing expertise, mentoring colleagues, and supporting training initiatives.
* Handle disputes involving deprivation of liberty, care funding, and other sensitive issues with diligence and professionalism.
