Qualified Social Worker – Child Protection & Children in Need

Pay Rate: £35 per hour

Are you an experienced and committed Social Worker ready to make a real, lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families?
We’re seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join a high-performing Child Protection & Children in Need team in South Yorkshire. You’ll be part of a dedicated frontline service that intervenes early, plans for permanence from day one, and puts children’s safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything.
This is a challenging but deeply rewarding role – and you won’t be alone. You’ll work within a supportive, multi-agency environment alongside health, education, and police colleagues, with strong links to Early Help services to ensure a seamless journey for every child.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a vital part of the team, you will:
1. Undertake robust child and family assessments
2. Lead on Section 47 enquiries
3. Progress cases to Initial Child Protection Conferences
4. Manage a complex and varied caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases
5. Devise and implement clear, outcome-focused care plans
6. Work in partnership with families to build resilience and create sustainable change
7. Participate in multi-agency planning and support transitions when social care involvement ends
What We’re Looking For
We want someone who brings skill, empathy, and determination to every case.
You’ll need to be:
8. A Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
9. Experienced in Child Protection and Children in Need work (4+ years post-qualified)
10. Confident managing risk and making sound decisions under pressure
11. Skilled in assessment, planning, and multi-agency working
12. Knowledgeable in current legislation, safeguarding policy, and best practice
13. Creative, flexible, and reflective in your approach
14. A strong communicator who builds trusting relationships with children and families
15. Passionate about making a positive and lasting impact in children's lives
