Are you an experienced Senior Process Engineer with a strong background in the UK water sector, looking to take a lead role in delivering high-quality process design solutions?
We’re supporting a well-established engineering organisation delivering key projects across the regulated water industry. With a strong pipeline of work, they are looking for a Senior Process Engineer to drive design excellence, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in delivering innovative and efficient water and wastewater solutions.

🏗 The Role
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will:
👷 Produce high-quality process design deliverables in line with safety and quality standards
📊 Carry out mass balances, hydraulic calculations, and process sizing
📄 Develop process flow diagrams, control philosophies, and commissioning strategies
🤝 Identify and communicate efficient design solutions to clients and internal teams
📅 Support planning by estimating design hours and managing design changes
🦺 Ensure compliance with industry standards, technical specifications, and water company requirements
📢 Attend and present at HAZOP, ALM, KM and other technical review meetings
📈 Prepare technical reports, specifications, and risk assessments
👥 Mentor and support junior engineers and designers
🔄 Work within structured engineering processes and procedures
👤 About You
You will ideally have:
✔ Around 10+ years’ experience in process design within the UK water industry
✔ Strong experience in wastewater treatment processes and plant design
✔ Proven ability to deliver process design on water or wastewater projects
✔ Strong technical knowledge across process engineering disciplines
✔ Experience producing calculations, reports, and detailed design documentation
✔ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
✔ Ability to lead, mentor, and develop junior team members
✔ A proactive, problem-solving mindset
✔ Good IT skills
✔ Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel
🎓 Qualifications
• Degree, HND or equivalent in Engineering (or significant industry experience)
⭐ Desirable:
• Chartered Engineer status
• Experience across both clean water and wastewater projects
• HAZOP experience (ideally as chair)
