This position reports directly to the STEM Dean. The hired candidate is to keep the STEM Dean informed about all laboratory activities. Responsible for ensuring that laboratory supplies and equipment are ready for use in the STEM Division laboratories and maintaining an inventory of all laboratory supplies and equipment. Ensure that supplies and laboratory materials are procured promptly for instructional purposes and perform other duties assigned by the STEM Dean. Works in conjunction with the Historic Triangle (Williamsburg) Campus STEM Lab Manager to support full-time and adjunct faculty with labs for biology, chemistry, geology, physics, and Natural Science courses at both main campuses of the college – the Hampton Campus and the Historic Triangle (Williamsburg) Campus.
This position may occasionally follow an adjusted work schedule to support early-morning or evening courses, as well as summer camps, when needed.
This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (Clery Act) and Responsible Employee (Title IX). Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in maintaining laboratory inventory, supplies, and equipment.
- Experience with safety rules and regulations that apply to laboratory maintenance and supplies.
Knowledge
- Laboratory experience with knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods utilized in maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
Skills
- Proficiently use Microsoft Office software and any related software
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to organize materials, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a lab budget.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow all safety rules and regulations and to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships and work constructively within a team, faculty, and students.
- Ability to communicate timely and effectively (orally and in writing).
- Ability to work and support all campus locations with instructions from the STEM Dean and in close coordination with the Historic Triangle STEM Lab Manager.Additional Considerations:
