A specialist SEN school in Earley is seeking a School Mental Health Assistant to join their team immediately. The school supports pupils with a variety of social, emotional, and mental health needs, including attachment disorders, trauma, moderate learning difficulties, and anxiety disorders.
In this role, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs Follow therapeutic practices and behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and safe learning environment Assist classroom teachers with daily learning activities and pupil support Collaborate with on:site specialists to ensure tailored, high:quality care and education
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates or aspiring psychologists to gain practical experience supporting children with complex needs. You will develop a deep understanding of SEN and SEMH, and see firsthand how targeted interventions help pupils thrive academically and emotionally.
The school is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, resilient, and passionate about supporting children with SEN and SEMH needs. Previous experience working with children is desirable, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are most important.
