Overview
I’m a 65-year-old man who lives with my wife in the village of Ystradowen, between Brynaman in one direction and Ystradgynlais in the other. I have brain injuries from tumours and stroke which mainly affect my mobility and speech. I use a wheelchair full time, and my speech is difficult to understand. I am fiercely independent, though, and am seeking a second PA who will understand that I want to do as much as possible for myself, with help only for the things I can’t do. A sense of humour is a must!
I currently have a PA who works 4 mornings a week helping with personal care and with other activities at home or in the community. I’m now looking for a second person to offer additional support, generally working on their own, sometimes jointly with the other PA to go out, and offering cover for the other PA when she’s absent.
Applicants need to be willing and able to undertake personal care, support safe transfers using a standing hoist, and push a manual wheelchair as required. I have a Motability car which will be available for use by the PA(s).
Work pattern is flexible by negotiation – to be discussed at interview. Up to 10 daytime/evening/weekend hours per week available with sleep-in shifts also available. If you are interested in any of the above hours, please submit your CV.
