At the Environment Agency we support the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, ensuring we maximise returns on our budget and demonstrate value for money. This role also supports the development of pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements.
Responsibilities
 * Support the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts.
 * Maximise value and demonstrate cost‑efficiency across projects.
 * Develop and manage pathfinder programmes to embed best practice.
 * Provide country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community.
 * Champion effective governance and commercial assurance within a high‑performing team.
 * Undertake incident response duties as required.
Qualifications
 * Essential education: A‑Level or Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
 * Strong communication and influencing skills.
 * Stakeholder management experience.
 * Strong data and document management skills.
 * Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, assess risk and deliver value for money.
 * Administrative proficiency: organisation, minutes, report drafting.
 * Willingness to pursue professional qualifications (e.g. NEC, CIPS) and seek further development.
 * Interest in infrastructure, construction, or environmental programmes.
 * Desired: Degree or equivalent professional qualification; working towards recognition with a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, or RICS.
 * Formal training in contract management (e.g. NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
