Sage Counselling, a home visiting service for those with mobility issues, is looking for a Trustee to join the team which ensures we are ethical, transparent, legal and serving our clients.

What difference will you make?

We need a trustee with vision and enthusiasm to join our group of trustees to help us move forward into the future. Trustees have responsibility to ensure we are doing everything we can to improve our service for the clients, counsellors, board members and for the organisation as a whole. A part of the trustee role also means ensuring we are operate ethically, legally and in accordance with our governing policy. Currently we are Embracing technology to improve efficiency and confidentiality with google workspace Looking for organisational improvements to ensure efficient use of resources both financial and personnel. Discovering ways to be transparent, particularly financially by sharing information more freely. Updating the business plan on a quarterly basis. Ensuring there is clear succession using standard operating procedures of key workers to enable a new officer to take over. We hope that with your ideas and experience you will help us continue this valuable work which has been operational since 2001 as a charity for the benefit others.

What are we looking for?

Trustee person specification Each trustee must have Integrity. An understanding of the needs of the client group served by SAGE Counselling. A commitment to the organisation and its objectives. An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as a trustee. Strategic vision. Good, independent judgement. An ability to think creatively. A willingness to speak their mind. An ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas – legal matters, finance, funding, publicity, Human Resources, computers and information technology, education and learning. Desirable Experience of governance. Experience of working with volunteers.

What will you be doing?

The duties of a trustee are To ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, organisation law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations. to ensure that the organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document. To ensure the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives, i.e. the organisation must not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objectives, no matter how worthwhile or charitable those activities are. To contribute actively to the board of trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
