The role
Weâre looking for an experienced and commercially minded National Account Manager (Protection) to grow and strengthen our relationships with key national accounts across the protection market.
This is a highâprofile, externally facing role where youâll act as a brand ambassador for The Exeter â building strong partnerships, driving sustainable growth, and delivering great outcomes for advisers and customers.
As National Account Manager, youâll own and develop a portfolio of national accounts across all protection disciplines. Working closely with colleagues across Distribution, Marketing and the wider business, youâll identify opportunities, increase our market presence, and deliver against agreed premium income targets.
Youâll also play an important role in embedding Consumer Duty principles and ensuring high standards of distribution quality across your portfolio.

What youâll be doing
â
Develop and manage strategic relationships with a portfolio of national accounts across all protection propositions
â
Deliver agreed annual premium income targets in line with business objectives and Distribution Quality Measures (DQM)
â
Act as the primary point of contact for all opportunities across the allocated account portfolio
â
Identify and develop growth opportunities across products, including viable crossâselling opportunities
â
Create and deliver tailored business development plans and contact strategies for each account
â
Analyse account performance to identify trends, risks and opportunities, using CRM, DQM and market insight
â
Work collaboratively with Sales Managers and internal stakeholders to maximise The Exeterâs visibility and positioning in the market
â
Ensure strong governance across account relationships, including structured meetings, agendas, minutes and action tracking
â
Maintain a high level of product knowledge, including relevant legislation and competitor propositions
â
Provide regular competitor and market analysis, sharing insights and recommendations internally
â
Ensure compliance with internal governance processes and FCA Individual Conduct Rules

What weâre looking for
âProven experience working with Intermediaries, IFAs and/or Wealth Managers
âStrong knowledge of protection products
âA demonstrable track record of developing and growing new and existing accounts
âExperience in senior relationship and territory management roles
âConfident presenting to senior and occasionally challenging audiences
âStrong influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills
âHighly organised, selfâmotivated and comfortable managing a national portfolio
âIdeally CII qualified (or working towards it)
âConfident with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and Power BI
âFull UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
