Role overview
Our Graduate Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering is designed for motivated individuals aspiring to a career in Civil Engineering. As an Apprentice, you will receive formal and on-the-job training to develop your skills and qualifications, working with engineering teams across various specialist areas. Responsibilities include site inspections, asset recording, cost calculations, analysis, investigations, research, budget and project monitoring, and health and safety activities. You will gain broad experience in roads engineering and develop skills aligned with the ICE framework for future membership of the Institute of Civil Engineers.
Training and study
You will study at university on a day-release basis over four years to attain a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering. You will be supported with time off for university, study, and mentorship. This is an excellent opportunity to earn a salary while studying, with no cost to you for training.
Candidate requirements
Applicants should be aged 16 or over, with a minimum of 4 Highers graded BBBB, including Maths and a science subject. English and Maths at National 5 level are also required. Applicants awaiting Higher results in August 2025 may apply, but offers are contingent on achieving the required grades. The program requires excellent time management and commitment over four years. Examples demonstrating your suitability for this opportunity are encouraged.
Working arrangements
We operate a hybrid model of office, home, and site-based working, primarily at Bellshill Depot and Civic Centre, Motherwell. The posts are fixed-term for up to four years, starting August 2025.
