About the role

We are seeking a Research Project Manager to join the Diabetes Research Centre at the University of Leicester. This is an exciting opportunity to support the research portfolio of Professor Kamlesh Khunti, working closely with Dr Ash Routen across a range of impactful projects including those within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration East Midlands, the NIHR Global Health Research Centre, and the Centre for Ethnic Health Research. You will play a key role in coordinating project activities, supporting stakeholder engagement, and contributing to academic outputs such as literature reviews, conference materials, and funding applications.

This fixed-term role, available on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum 0.8 FTE), is ideal for individuals looking to develop a career in research management. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive environment that values open, inclusive, and sustainable research practices, aligned with the University’s OASIS principles: Open, Accountable, Supportive, Inclusive, and Sustainable.

About you

You will bring experience in coordinating research projects, ideally within a higher education, NHS, or public health setting. Your ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and contribute to reports and funding applications will be essential. A working knowledge of research governance and health-related research is important, along with strong IT and organisational skills.

We seek someone proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to fostering a positive research culture. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, sharing our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Leicester is proud to be a community of Citizens of Change, and we welcome applications from individuals passionate about making a difference through research.

Additional information

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Ash Routen, Research Fellow in the Diabetes Research Centre, at ar516@leicester.ac.uk.
This role will also be considered on a seconded basis for existing staff members. Please discuss this with your line manager prior to applying. More information on secondments can be found here.
The University of Leicester has been changing the world and lives for 100 years. Joining us makes you part of a community of Citizens of Change, including staff, students, and graduates worldwide.
As a diverse and forward-thinking employer, we embed equity, diversity, and inclusion into all aspects of our work. This includes our core missions of teaching and research, as well as supporting staff, students, and the community through our values of Inspiring, Impactful, and Inclusive.
We are committed to staff wellbeing and environmental sustainability. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension scheme, generous leave, and opportunities for career development in a supportive environment.

Full-time or part-time (minimum 0.8 FTE), fixed-term from 01 September 2025 to 31 August 2027.
