FLEXIBLE Waking Night Support Worker – Children's Residential Home

Salary: £12.50 – £14.00 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)
Shift Pattern: Waking nights, 8:00 PM – 8:30 AM

As a Waking Night Support Worker in our residential children's home in Romford, you'll provide vital overnight care and reassurance to young people, helping them feel safe, secure, and supported through the night.

About the Role
As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the wellbeing of children and young people while they sleep. You will:
* Provide consistent, tailored care throughout the night
* Support with personal care and daily living tasks as needed
* Maintain a calm, safe, and nurturing home environment
* Monitor wellbeing and behaviour, reporting any concerns promptly
* Communicate effectively with the daytime team to ensure joined-up care
* Keep clear and accurate records of overnight activities and observations
* Respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies
* Contribute to care plans and follow behaviour support strategies
You'll be part of a supportive rota system (4 shifts one week, 3 the next) that provides both structure and work-life balance.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Experience supporting children or young people (residential care, fostering, education, or similar)
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and positive relationships
* Empathy, resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for making a difference
* Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
* Flexibility to work waking night shifts, including weekends
* Team player with a proactive, caring approach
Desirable:
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People's Workforce
* First Aid training
* Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviours
* Full UK driving licence
