Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy technicians or equivalent
2. Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
3. Accredited Checking Technician
Desirable criteria
4. Good Clinical Practice Training (GCP)
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Significant post registration experience working in a busy pharmacy department in primary or secondary care
6. Evidence of training healthcare professionals and other staff groups
Desirable criteria
7. Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy department.
8. Experience of pharmacy clinical trials
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
9. Able to analyse and interpret prescriptions, identify problems and decide upon an appropriate course of action.
10. Demonstrated ability to work methodically and accurately
Desirable criteria
11. Experience of using Wellsky pharmacy computer system
12. Experience of using Edge - clinical trials management system
Knowledge
Essential criteria
13. Good understanding of pharmacy law and ethics, roles and responsibilities
14. Knowledge of the legal aspects of final accuracy checking and the law relating to prescriptions
