Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

A leading co-educational independent day school in Edgbaston is seeking an inspiring and well-qualified Teacher of German to join its thriving Modern Languages department from January 2026.

The Role
This is a full-time position teaching German across KS3–KS5. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, intellectually stimulating lessons that nurture linguistic fluency, cultural understanding and academic curiosity.
You will work within a highly collaborative MFL department, where languages are celebrated and uptake at A-Level is strong. Lessons are taught in a dynamic, immersive style, with regular opportunities for students to use the language in authentic contexts, from exchanges to in-school debates and cultural workshops.

The School
Set on a beautiful campus near the heart of Birmingham, this prestigious independent school combines traditional values with a forward-thinking educational philosophy. Academic standards are consistently high, with students achieving excellent GCSE and A-Level results.
Class sizes are small, students are engaged and motivated, and the school’s culture of respect and intellectual curiosity creates a rewarding environment for both staff and pupils.

Department & Ethos
The Modern Languages department enjoys a strong reputation for innovation and collaboration. Facilities include interactive classrooms, dedicated language labs, and access to digital platforms that support immersive learning. Regular exchanges and study visits to Germany form a cornerstone of the school’s cultural programme.

About You

* A degree in German or a related field, with QTS or equivalent.
* A passion for language and intercultural education.
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
* Commitment to enrichment activities such as trips, clubs or debating.

Why Join?

* Competitive independent school salary and generous pension.
* Small class sizes with exceptional behaviour and support.
* Excellent CPD and professional growth opportunities.
* Free lunches, parking, and use of school sports and fitness facilities.

If you’re a German Teacher who values academic excellence and creativity within a warm, professional environment, this Edgbaston school offers a wonderful opportunity to inspire and lead.
