Overview
ABL Health and Wirral Council are partnered to deliver the Stop Smoking Service across Wirral. The service provides integrated behaviour support for smoking cessation embedded in sustainable behaviour change and wellbeing. Up to 12 weeks of support is offered through an individual quit programme with weekly tailored advice from a Specialist Practitioner.
Main duties
We are looking for a community-focused individual to join the Wirral team. This varied role, under the guidance of the Project Lead, drives engagement, supports innovation and contributes to service development. You will implement ABLs Community Engagement Strategy and promote the Wirral Stop Smoking Service across the borough. Working with the communications team, you will raise the service profile through campaigns and community initiatives.
You will engage with local partners, primary and secondary care colleagues, and community organisations to build relationships, develop referral pathways and explore opportunities for collaboration. Responsibilities include organising and delivering training, attending local meetings/events, representing ABL to promote Stop Smoking Wirral, monitoring referral data, using insights to shape engagement activity, contributing to reports, and supporting communications through social media, events and awareness campaigns.
We are seeking someone who is innovative, organised and open to new ideas, with the ability to present to groups. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support events. Job responsibilities
You will be the Community Engagement Officer for Wirral Stop Smoking Service, covering all areas of the Borough with focus on areas of deprivation and higher smoking prevalence.
* Lead on community engagement and drive awareness through promotions, social media and engagement activities.
* Increase referrals by promoting community engagement and building long-lasting relationships with local partners and stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with stakeholder groups at district level (e.g., leisure services, VCFSE sector, community services, GP practices and maternity services).
* Act as an innovative, proactive communicator; work in a strengths-based approach to community delivery.
* Work dynamically, aligning with the IWS vision and values to support healthy lifestyles.
* Attend local meetings, represent ABL, promote Stop Smoking Wirral and maintain local partnerships (public speaking/presentations to small/medium groups).
* Collaborate with Wirral Stop Smoking team and support service development and evaluation.
* Update the partnership database and contribute to quarterly reports.
* Support communications strategies and promote the service through events, materials and social media; occasional weekend/evening work may be required for events.
* Lead local events and coordinate with the Stakeholder & Partnerships Lead and Head of Service on community fund commitments.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Degree and/or equivalent experience in community healthcare, community development, or business development.
* At least 3 years experience in a community setting.
* Experience in healthcare environments and in partnership working.
* Experience of speaking to large groups.
Desirable
* CIMSPA (previously REPS) Level 2 Gym instructor/Group exercise award or equivalent.
* Leadership experience, delivering training programmes, focus groups, and public speaking.
* Experience in partnership working and collaborating with various organisations.
