Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Test Equipment team, reporting to the Test Equipment Design Engineer Lead. The successful candidate will design test equipment for John Crane’s high-end gas seal technology and coordinate with our international service centers.
This position is based at our headquarters in Slough, working Monday to Friday during standard office hours.

Duties & Responsibilities (not exhaustive):
* Design and maintain technical drawings and data for testing equipment used on John Crane Gas and Wet seals, using CAD.
* Ensure all designs meet safety standards and best practices.
* Manage the movement and storage of test equipment within the Slough site and between service centers.
* Generate reports to ensure test equipment availability aligns with the order book and test plans.
* Support suppliers using tooling designed or used by John Crane.
* Obtain quotes and subcontract work that cannot be manufactured in-house.
* Load parts into the Slough machine shop for manufacturing.
* Assist operations with issues related to test rigs and equipment.
* Participate in continuous improvement events related to storage and testing processes.
The Individual
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience in design engineering, with proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD software.
* Good knowledge of MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
* Experience or familiarity with database creation, updating, and maintenance.
* Knowledge of rotating equipment and high-pressure test systems is advantageous.
* Resourceful, innovative, and quick-thinking with strong problem-solving skills.
* Attention to detail.
