Skye & Lochalsh Community Midwifery Team is looking for a midwife who is keen to join a small local team. This is a full-time post with an on-call commitment. This post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife who is keen to practice midwife-led care and to develop skills as an autonomous practitioner in a remote and rural environment.
The midwifery team provides maternity services within the Community Midwifery Unit within Broadford Hospital and across the wider Skye & Lochalsh area. The service offers local and home births. For the management, care and transfer of higher risk pregnancies and sick neonates the midwifery team work closely with NHS Highland Obstetric, Midwifery and Neonatal teams based in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness (approximately 110 miles away).
The midwifery team works flexibly to provide a 24/7 service. Interested applicants should ideally be educated to degree level or have equivalent clinical experience. A current driving licence is essential and you will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations to meet the operational requirements of the service.
