Senior Mental Health Practitioner (Registered Mental Health Nurse)
Job Summary
Are you an experienced and motivated individual looking to join a high performing mental health Trust? We are very excited to be able to offer a suitably qualified Mental Health Nurse Band 6 post within our established multi-disciplinary Recovery Team in Cirencester. The successful applicant will gain valuable Mental Health experience within well respected and successful services and work in both urban and rural parts of scenic South Gloucestershire. We are looking for a motivated individual with experience of working in mental health services.
Main Duties
As the ideal candidate for this post you will be an experienced and highly competent mental health practitioner seeking a new challenge and the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives. The role involves excellent communication skills, passion for helping those experiencing mental health challenges, building relationships with partner agencies, integrating services, thriving in high-pressure situations, and working with specialists from a range of professions.
Responsibilities
The team provides a planned needs lead 9am-5pm five days a week service. You will support service users with serious mental illness, deliver evidence-based interventions, undertake risk assessment and management, and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings. We also look for a professional who can collaborate with other agencies, including the voluntary sector, and contribute to service development.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Mental Health (RMN) or Registered Social Worker or Occupational Therapist
* Evidence of post-registration experience at Band 5 or above, and post-registration learning
* Continued professional development evidence
Person Specification
Essential
* Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act and legal aspects of mental health care.
* Demonstrable skills in risk assessment & management.
* Experience of Early Intervention, Primary Care, Recovery, Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment (CRHT) approaches and social inclusion.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office apps.
* Understanding of national mental health policy.
* Up‐to‑date clinical knowledge, including dual diagnosis and health/social care needs assessment.
Desirable
* Evidence of formal post-registration learning.
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).
* Experiences collaborating with voluntary sector agencies.
* Knowledge of child care / protection issues.
* Ability to address social factors affecting mental distress such as accommodation, substance misuse, domestic violence, welfare rights.
