Working within a team of specialist Consultants and junior doctors in training, the post holder will be expected to initiate and provide sound clinical/medical practices to patients admitted to the Medicine division, whilst supporting patients’ families and friends, demonstrating that the patient is the central focus of care. The post involves participation in the on-call rota.
The post holder will be predominantly based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital but should also be prepared to work at any HHFT site if required.
Responsibilities include:
1. Clerk and post-take administration; writing in patients notes
2. Undertake patient reviews
3. Investigate and initiate medical management
4. Patient assessment
5. Drug prescription
6. Discharge administration
7. Promptly update patient systems
8. Attend clinics
9. Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings
10. Facilitate daily board rounds with MDT
11. Triage to medical teams/acute physicians as appropriate
12. Troubleshoot patients on the ward
13. Conduct ward rounds
14. Provide supervision and management to junior doctors
15. Participate in the medical on-call shift system
