We are working with a specialist school in Durham, around Consett, who are looking for a Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone keen to gain hands-on experience in a supportive setting while learning on the job. The role: Supporting pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis or in small groups Assisting with classroom activities and learning routines Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement Working closely with teachers and SEN staff Helping pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn We’re looking for someone who: Is patient, calm, and reliable Has a genuine interest in SEND and inclusive education Is confident building positive relationships with children Is happy to learn and take guidance from experienced staff Has relevant experience with children or young people (school, care, youth work, or similar is desirable but not essential) No formal SEN qualifications are required.
