About the Role The Assistant Accountant position sits within the Power NI Customer Solutions Business unit and reports to an Accountant within the Financial Reporting & Control Team (within the Power NI Finance Team). This role sits within a fast paced, challenging environment constantly open to change. The ideal candidate will have strong basic accounts skills. The individual should be motivated and have a continuous improvement approach to their role. Responsibilities Day-to-day, here's what your new role would look like: Preparation of month-end journals including operating costs, capex, accruals, prepayments, reallocations. Completion of a wide range of P&L and BS reconciliations, including variance analysis. Assistance in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for Senior Management. Extraction and analysis of data from our billing system. Supporting the monthly and annual forecasting processes. Cash flow analysis & forecasting. Assist in Accounts Payable processes, including invoice and purchase order approvals. Production of cost centre reports & variance analysis. Assist in internal & external audits. Ad-hoc analysis as required. About You What you'll need: At least 2 years' proven recent experience of working in a similar role. Experience of using an accounting package in previous roles. Demonstrable experience in the proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proven time management and communication skills. These help decide between those who meet all the above criteria: Accounting Technician qualification and/or partial professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). Experience using SAP and Workday. Experience working in a similar role in the Energy or Utility industry.
