We havean exciting opportunity for an Advanced Occupational Therapist Paediatrics inHertfordshire Community NHS Trust to join the Childrens Occupational Therapy CYPTherapies department at Peace Childrens Centre. You will be responsible forproviding highly specialist Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions,and advice for children and young people with a range of learning and physicaldisabilities, including associated communication difficulties. The roleinvolves managing complex caseloads across a variety of settings includingchildrens centres, mainstream and special schools, colleges, nurseries, homes,and specialist clinics. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team,supporting and collaborating with health, education, and social careprofessionals to deliver high-quality, child-centred care. In addition, youwill contribute to the development of specialist Occupational Therapy services,provide expert input within your area of specialism, and represent the servicein SEND tribunal cases by delivering evidence-based recommendations to supportchildren and young peoples needs.
Main duties of the job
As an Advanced Occupational Therapist Paediatrics, youwill be delivering workshops and training programmes for parents, children, andthe wider young peoples workforce, enabling them to build confidence inself-management approaches. You will oversee the supervision, training, andperformance management of junior and student occupational therapists under theguidance of the Operational Manager, Clinical Quality Leads, and Team Leads.You will take the lead on designated service initiatives alongside HighlySpecialist Therapists and Clinical Quality Leads, contributing to continuousimprovement and evaluation activities within the Childrens OccupationalTherapy Service. You will also work autonomously, demonstrating strongleadership, decision-making, and organisational skills to ensure effectiveservice delivery across the team.

Job responsibilities
* To complete detailed occupational therapy assessments using specialistclinical tools and observations, interpreting findings to support appropriatetherapeutic outcomes for children and young people with complex presentations.
* To apply advanced clinical reasoning skills to monitor progress, reviewintervention effectiveness, and adapt therapeutic approaches in response toevolving needs and outcomes.
* To prepare specialist reports and contribute expert clinical input withinsafeguarding, review, and multi-agency meetings, ensuring accuraterecommendations are clearly communicated to relevant professionals.
* To assess, recommend, and review specialist equipment and adaptiveresources, ensuring safe implementation and effective use within educational,community, and home environments.
* To maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, data collection,and outcome reporting in line with HCPC standards, departmental procedures, andinformation governance requirements.
* To contribute to audit, clinical governance, research, and pathway reviewactivities, supporting the delivery of responsive services aligned with bestpractice and local commissioning objectives.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with relevant degree qualification.
* Experience in paediatric community Occupational Therapy and complex caseloads.
* Skilled in assessment, intervention planning, and multidisciplinary working.
* Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle essential.
