Housing Manager

Salary: up to £28,917 per annum
Employment Type: Full time - Permanent, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

There is an expectation that candidates will undertake Out Of Hours (OOH) duties, including being on standby. OOH duties are paid at £30 per weekday and £50 per weekend day, with attendance at properties or service users paid at 1.5x rate.
Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers while their claims are assessed across three regions: Northeast, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. As of May 2021, Mears supported over 19,000 service users. We work in partnership with government bodies, providers, tenants, landlords, and investors to address homelessness, increase social and affordable housing, and develop specialized housing for individuals with care needs.
About the Role:
Due to contract expansion, we are seeking a Housing Manager to join our team. This role is dedicated to supporting asylum seekers through their right to work application process with the Home Office. The ideal candidate will be resilient, trustworthy, caring, empathetic, and able to handle diverse situations. This position offers a dynamic and rewarding environment, with each day bringing new challenges and opportunities.
The main responsibilities include managing property portfolios, ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of residents, coordinating moves in and out of properties, and working collaboratively with Welfare Support Officers and service delivery teams to meet individual and property needs. Regular inspections to ensure contractual compliance and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are essential, along with maintaining accurate records and data management.
Role Criteria:
* Experience managing housing portfolios
* Experience working with vulnerable or diverse client groups
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures
* Experience working with mental health challenges or challenging behavior
* Effective communication skills with colleagues, authorities, and service users
* Record keeping and risk assessment skills
* Full UK driving license
* Approachable, trustworthy, resilient, and empathetic
* Ability to work independently
Note: All roles require entitlement to work in the UK; Mears does not offer visa sponsorship. To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held a license for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.
As part of the recruitment process, a DBS & BPSS check and Security Clearance will be conducted. Candidates must provide proof of address, references, a valid passport, and evidence of UK residence over the last 5 years.
