Job Opportunity: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
Location: Culdrose, Cornwall
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to plan, coordinate, direct, and perform engineering assignments involving specifications, design changes, or alterations to aircraft, engines, systems, components, and field or shop equipment. This role supports MAWS and LM-STAR.
About LM-STAR and MAWS
LM-STAR is a critical asset ensuring high mission capability rates for complex military platforms. Lockheed Martin’s PBL program sustains station availability.
MAWS refers to Merlin Avionics Workshop.
Role Responsibilities
1. Perform 3rd line support engineering work: testing and repairing parts removed from aircraft and returning them to the Navy.
2. Carry out servicing, repair, integration, testing, and modification of Merlin avionics and associated test systems within workshops, training environments, and on aircraft.
3. Work independently towards long-term goals under consultative direction.
4. Handle maintenance, repair, overhaul, and testing of avionics and test systems, including configuration, calibration, and modifications, in compliance with regulatory policies.
5. Address complex technical problems, developing innovative solutions.
6. Support activities like closed-loop analysis to improve product support and asset availability.
7. Act as MAWS Occupational/Environment/Safety/Health Representative and participate in safety meetings.
8. Manage risk assessments, COSHH, SYPOL data sheets, and control procurement and storage of flammables.
9. Coordinate, deliver, and develop MAWS training courses, providing guidance and ongoing training to promote personal development.
10. Collaborate with support teams, engineers, and equipment manufacturers on technical issues.
11. Support primary and secondary avionic engineering activities in line with organizational objectives.
Additional Duties
* Provide deployed engineering support for automated test stations, aircraft, and systems both domestically and abroad.
* Serve as SME for in-service retrofit upgrades and aircraft support activities.
