Key responsibilities


Programming and Partnerships

* Shape the artistic vision and programming coherence of Upgrade Yourself Monthly’s, Festivals and Takeovers, ensuring content is artistically ambitious, relevant to young people.
* Lead the research, design, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality Upgrade Yourself programmes that reflect regenerative and youth-centred practice, proactively identifying themes, collaborators, and opportunities that respond to contemporary cultural, social, and political contexts.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across Exhibitions, Studios, and Makerversity to leverage the Somerset House community and create meaningful cross‑strand programming.
* Engage with artists, makers, practitioners, and entrepreneurs to co‑create a multi-disciplinary, cutting edge programme.
* Build and sustain partnerships with community groups, education providers, and grassroots organisations to enhance access, participation, and progression routes.


Planning, Operations and Delivery

* Manage all operational and logistical aspects of programme delivery, preparing production schedules, and conducting pre‑event briefings and post‑event debriefs to ensure shared understanding and quality delivery.
* Oversee Visitor Experience, Security, Technical, Estates, and other internal teams to ensure venues, equipment, catering, and materials are in place.
* Develop and maintain programme risk assessments and Health & Safety documentation, working with the H&S team to undertake additional assessments as required.
* Anticipate and address delivery‑related risks and challenges, maintaining proactive communication and solutions focused problem‑solving throughout.


Finance and Contracts

* Plan, manage, and monitor programme budgets accurately, supporting effective financial decision‑making.
* Work with the Administrator and Coordinator to maintain precise financial procedures, ensuring suppliers are set up, POs raised, invoices processed on time, and credit card and petty cash expenses accurately recorded.
* Draft, negotiate, and finalise contracts for contributors and delivery partners, ensuring fair pay, and in compliance with budgets.


Communications, Marketing and Stakeholders

* Liaise closely with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure timely and effective promotion of programmes, meeting marketing and ticketing deadlines.
* Provide finalised programme information including copy, schedules, and images for website pages, socials and newsletter.
* Represent the programme internally and externally (e.g. briefings, events, panels, networking) to share learning and raise the visibility of Inclusive Talent Engagement work.


Equity, Access and Team Culture

* Embed equitable, accessible, and participatory approaches across programme design, partnerships, and delivery.
* Promote a workplace culture that values respect, equity, wellbeing, and professional growth.
* Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to the Coordinator, Administrator, and freelance staff, fostering clear communication and collaborative teamwork.


Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

* Maintain a consistent monitoring and evaluation practice, measuring both quantitative outcomes and qualitative impact, including skills development, confidence, empowerment, and career progression.
* Conduct internal evaluation, programme reconciliation and produce clear reports, providing insights, outcomes, and participant feedback to inform future activity.
* Embed learning from evaluations, debriefs, and stakeholder feedback into forward planning, championing best practice in youth engagement, regenerative programming, and collaborative working.


Experience

* Has 3+ years’ experience designing and delivering high‑quality creative learning, talent development or youth engagement programmes for 16–30‑year‑olds, ideally within or linked to the creative sector.
* Is highly organised, reliable and comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines with the ability to highlight issues and propose logistical, operational and financial solutions.
* Has experience of working in complex programme delivery, ideally in a high‑volume environment with the ability to work effectively under pressure. Is experienced in evaluation and reporting, using data for evidence‑led programme development and impact measurement.
* Experience of budget management, forecasting, budget consolidation and all related administration.
* Understands safeguarding and pastoral care in youth work and/or learning and participation settings.
* Has a background in community organising, cultural programming, youth work, or social justice‑oriented education.
* Able to work collaboratively, as a cohesive part of the team supporting and assisting in the shape and form of ideas, initiatives and projects that are not your own.


Skills

* Highly organised, with demonstrable administration, analytical and IT skills (Microsoft Office and other planning, budgeting and booking systems).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and nurture strong working relationships with a diverse range of people, both within the organisation and externally.
* Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of the creative industry landscape, youth workforce development and youth culture.
* Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, anti‑racism and access with practical experience applying these principles through co‑creation, culturally responsive approaches to programming.
* Is a collaborative team player with strong problem‑solving skills and a flexible, pragmatic approach with a commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice.
