Operations Manager
Salary: The starting salary is £47,060, which includes allowances totalling £2,928. The salary is broken down as £44,132 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £52,652. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location / Hybrid Working: This role will be based at Sydenham, SE London with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as core attendance days. You may be required to attend offsite meetings as needed. We actively support hybrid working solutions, with the expectation that you will have 2 days working at home.
The Role:
CONNECT is one of the Metropolitan Police Service’s most significant technology programmes, replacing seven legacy IT systems with one integrated solution to support core operational processes including case management, custody, intelligence, property and proactive planning.
As CONNECT Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery of the CONNECT system across the organisation. You’ll ensure that the system is running smoothly, users are supported effectively, and operational issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. You’ll work closely with technical teams, frontline users, and senior stakeholders to ensure CONNECT continues to meet the needs of the service.
You’ll lead on service performance monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your role will be key in ensuring operational stability, driving user satisfaction, and supporting the strategic goals of the CONNECT programme.

What You’ll Need to Know
Core Skills & Capabilities
* Ability to manage service delivery, monitor performance, and resolve issues across multiple workstreams.
* Skilled in identifying, tracking, and mitigating risks and dependencies using structured logs and reporting tools.
* Experience in reviewing resource schedules, identifying overutilisation, and applying optimisation techniques to balance workloads.
* Confident in delivering tailored communications—written and verbal—to a range of stakeholders.
* Highly organised with a proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
* Comfortable navigating ambiguity and using initiative to resolve issues where processes may not exist.
* Able to deliver briefings and presentations, and promote positive change across the organisation.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
* Evidence of inclusive behaviour and a commitment to collaborative team environments.
Relevant Experience
* Financial processing including tracking timesheets, raising invoices, and managing purchase orders.
* Preparing meeting materials, capturing minutes, and supporting senior stakeholder engagement.
* Delivering lessons learned sessions and applying best practices to improve operational processes.
* Constructing business cases for change, with a clear understanding of projected benefits and impact.

This post requires access to sensitive intelligence material. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) before taking up the post, with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.
