Due to growing demands, we have just created a new role for an experienced Workshop Manager within our Fleet & Mechanics department. This is a full-time salaried role, in the convenience and quiet location of Kilsyth South.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* To be responsible for the Workshop and all Mechanic and related services for Fleet & Plant in the business.
* Set high standards with mechanics on workshop, cleanliness, stock levels, activities of operation to a high quality with continual improvement and safe practices at the forefront of mind always.
* Culturally improve the safety standards of mechanics and operators by ensuring SOP’s are in place for all relevant items within the workshop and the mobile workshops / offsite with control and training where required.
* Oversee material purchases finding efficiencies and cost savings for overall fleet and plant including travel time and duration of materials in stock at workshop to reduce downtime for operations.
* Manage key stakeholders within operations understanding their costs and productivity losses ie. Downtime consequences for them whilst managing to priorities categorized by risk.
* Responsible for ensuring preventative maintenance is in place for all vehicles and plant including vehicles all roadworthy, serviced and maintained before due and defects and risk and plant assessment items requiring work on vehicles are prioritized in right order with nothing past due.
* Manage all calls, queries, defects, urgent work and schedule all work for plant and fleet within our systems.
* Ensure time allocation for all work/jobs are recorded against plant # for effective full plant costs to the business.
* Support the business in reporting of key data and integrity of data relating to costs of plant and savings initiatives where possible.
* Manage mechanical and plant support for day and night shift operation within the business by appropriate plan for coverage. Plant being multiple of Concrete Plant (high priority) and plant of various throughout the business.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Minimum 5 years experience Scheduling Mechanics for work, Overseeing Part ordering in similar related business and use fleet /work systems tracking mechanics and fleet costs
* Minimum 3 years experience in driving and leading people
* Minimum 4 years experience maintaining fleet including service, repair, maintain, record keeping, costing labour and materials out
* Experience with construction machines ishighlyregarded and preferred(Earthmoving, Mining, Civil)
* Experience with Concrete, Asphalt / Civil Construction ishighly regarded and preferred
* Red or White Construction Card
* Excellent customer service skills by being proven in delivery in full on time “DIFOT” with quality standards being met minimizing downtime for customers managing extensive calls, directing queries
* Good communication skills – verbal, listening, writing with ability to clearly direct and guide employees, customers and manage stakeholders
* Responsiveness, ability to adapt to varying situations
* Growth mindset both self and others
* Valid Drivers Licence – HR Preferred
* Plant Tickets Preferred (not essential))
* Diesel Mechanic or similar technical knowledge/experience beneficial not essential
* Good MS Suite Skills with advanced excel
* Good system knowledge and navigating including Finance Systems, Fleet/Asset Systems, Tracking including GPS, Dash Cam and more
* Team Player – working with Mechanics, Fleet Manager, Operational / Dept Managers / Supervisors, SHEQ Compliance, P&C, Finance and Drivers and Operators
* NHVR and COR Extensive knowledge driving this within the full mechanical team
