Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the regime. This role involves working alongside regulatory reform initiatives and supporting the transition of the regime from reform to 'business as usual'.

The responsibilities include:

1. Providing technical leadership in waste classification
2. Leading Hazardous Waste compliance efforts and initiatives to improve compliance
3. Enhancing leadership in priority waste streams
4. Offering technical support focused on priority waste streams, driven by both area and national teams
5. Tackling regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra's circular economy work on Hazardous Waste
6. Supporting enforcement actions to reduce offending, aligned with the control strategy

The team

The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation division of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling of hazardous waste.

Training and development opportunities will be provided.

Additional information

You will have an inclusive development plan with an incident management objective. The role is based at an EA office with flexible/hybrid working arrangements.
