Role Overview
Senior Planning Engineer required at Jackson’s Head Office in Ipswich.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice and assistance on planning, methods of construction, solutions to engineering problems and programme creation.
- Ensure that while planning each tender, all possible alternative methods and strategies have been considered and discussed with the tender team.
- Assist with providing supporting documents for each tender submission as required.
- Jointly review sub-contracted design work with respect to buildability and tender compliance, seeking advice from the Technical Manager when necessary.
- Ensure that any programmes and supporting documents produced comply with all schemes’ specific constraints.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, innovations, and legislation.
Must Have
- Proven hands‑on experience in a civil engineering site delivery environment (e.g., Sub Agent, Site Agent, Engineer, or Project Manager on live projects).
- A strong understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, and buildability gained directly on‑site. Demonstrable experience of being actively involved in delivering works on the ground, not solely planning or office‑based programming. Ability to translate site knowledge into realistic, efficient and buildable construction programmes.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has broad experience across civil engineering construction sites, with a clear track record of delivery responsibility.
- Holds a minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering.
- Works confidently as part of a team in a fast‑paced delivery environment.
Skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with site teams and stakeholders.
- Ideally familiar with programming tools such as Asta Powerproject or Microsoft Project.
