The Dietitians work closely and collaboratively with dietetic colleagues within the Nutrition and Dietetic Service, consultants, GP’s, nursing staff, AHP’s and the wider MDT Teams.

The Band 5 posts tend to rotate on a 9 – 12 monthly basis. Your knowledge, skills and experience and current service demands will determine which Team the posts will initially start in.

Nutrition & Dietetics Service

This is a Fife wide service, with a leadership structure arranged around clinical teams. These are Hospital Services, Community Services, Diabetes & Weight Management and Child & Young Person. Fife has a non prescribing ordering model (NPO) for oral nutritional supplements. We deliver a range of services using dietetic led models of care.

We provide dietetic student training for A, B & C placements. All staff participate in the delivery and organisation of the placements. Staff within the Service are encouraged to participate in the service wide, fortnightly education and training sessions delivered on Teams by a range of internal and external speakers. The Service actively supports staff in their continuing professional development. We have very good administration and IT support and utilise social media and online digital resources.

We have an established network for our Band 5 Dietitians that deliver opportunities for networking, peer support, development of knowledge and skills and learning.

Registered with HCPC, you will have the skills, competencies and experience appropriate for the posts. Induction and training will be provided to facilitate transition into your new role.

We are very keen to hear from you.

If you want to find out more about this role, please contact Katie Duncan, Clinical Lead Dietitian at katie.duncan@nhs.scot or 01592 729124 / Clare McLeish, Clinical Lead Dietitian at clare.mcleish@nhs.scot or 01592 643355 Extension 28418, to arrange an informal discussion.

Unsuccessful but suitable candidates may be offered the option to join the dietetic bank.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team. For more details on these changes please visit: Disclosure Scotland Changes.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
