Role
The senior estimator role will ensure that target cost plans are robust, integrated, represent value for money, and are supported by consistent internal and external benchmarking data.
Responsibilities
* Producing detailed estimates in a timely and efficient manner, based on bills of quantities/take-off and activity-based costs.
* Establishing and maintaining relationships with the client, contractors and suppliers.
* Agreeing resourcing levels against programme.
* Assessing the risk levels associated with the project.
* Production of the tender settlement book and presenting to the Directors for sign off.
* Resolving post tender queries.
* Updating Mace and Heathrow benchmarking data.
* Manage the sending out of enquiries via Aconex.
* Management of estimating team on larger projects.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Sound knowledge of the typical industry contract forms, in particular NEC, and procurement routes.
* Airport experience would be advantageous but not essential.
* Ability to build excellent relationships with clients, design teams and stakeholders.
* Highly numerate, accurate and focused on detail.
* Cost planning experience.
* Knowledge of Bluebeam or similar measurement software packages.
* The role holder should be educated to degree level or equivalent commercial experience.
* MCIOB / RICS qualified or working towards.
* Ability to measure and provide simple Bills of Quantities for Enquiries.
* Good negotiation skills.
* Good working knowledge of building methodology.
* The capability to be self-reliant – able to work on own initiative.
* Ability to price for first principles.
* Strong organisation skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Influencing skills and effective stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise own workloads.
* Capability to see opportunities, challenge when necessary and passion for improvement.
