We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Radiologist post with a subspecialist interest in Chest / Cardiothoracic Radiology to join our highly diverse, motivated, and thriving Radiology Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. A new post has become available following significant investment in our Community Diagnostic Centre.
The successful candidate will support general radiology, assist in the smooth running of the Directorate and work with colleagues in providing an effective and efficient service. The post will be based at Chorley and Preston Hospital and also our local CDC site, Healthport.
The candidate should have completed radiology training (be within 6 months of CCT or have obtained CESR) and should have sufficient skills to independently report MRI, CT and US examinations within its subspecialty areas of expertise.
You will join a committed and friendly team of 5 Chest / Cardiothoracic Radiologists with various subspecialty interests including cardiac imaging, lung biopsy, ILD, PET/CT and Post‑mortem CT.
Responsibilities
* Provide cross‑sectional imaging reporting and support for various MDTs.
* Perform clinical duties, including reading imaging studies for Chest and Cardiothoracic cases.
* Contribute to the formal teaching programme and supervise trainees, undergraduate medical students and other learners.
* Participate in audit programmes and other quality improvement initiatives.
* Assist in management duties commensurate with this role, including on‑call activities (8 DPAs, 1.5 SPAs and 0.5 for on‑call).
* Support the Radiology Directorate’s smooth operation across all service levels.
Qualifications
* Completed radiology training: within 6 months of CCT or CESR exemption.
* Independent reporting skills in MRI, CT and US for Chest / Cardiothoracic subspecialty.
* Demonstrated experience in a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
