Ward 6b is a 19 bed Surgical Specialities ward ,catering for Urology, Endocrine, Ophthalmology and Breast patients.. The main duties of the job are as follows:

Leadership & Supervision:

Leading teams, delegating tasks, and providing clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff, including new staff and students.

Expert Clinical Practice:

Delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, acting as a role model for clinical expertise, and advising patients, families, and other professionals.

Management & Coordination:

Coordinating workload, overseeing clinical activities during their shift, and deputising for their manager when required.

Service Improvement:

Identifying opportunities to enhance care, contributing to the development and implementation of high-quality, evidence-based policies and procedures.

Professional Accountability:

Acting as an autonomous practitioner within their scope of competence, ensuring compliance with professional codes of conduct and taking responsibility for their own practice.

Teamwork & Communication:

Fostering a high-performing team through effective communication and by ensuring team members understand their roles and the service's objectives.

Clinical Responsibilities

Co-ordination of the ward/department on a day to day basis including planning, allocation and evaluation of work carried out by teams or individuals and self.

Provide specialist knowledge to all Nursing staff on the ward/ department

Will promote a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of nursing care ensuring that the ward/ department environment is responsive to current issues.

In support of the ward/ department manager will assist in the review and update of procedures and protocols relating to the care of patients

Develop methods for identifying, maintaining and improving the quality of patient care through facilitation of best practice and clinical benchmarking.

Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients/clients.

Explore and undertake expanded practice to optimise patient care as required within specialist area, in accordance with Trust policies.
