What you’ll do on a typical day:
Produce weekly flash accounts across multiple transport locations with accuracy and timeliness
* Manage period‑end processes for both GXO and the customer, including preparation of prepayment and accrual journals
* Act as the subject matter expert for your area, analysing P&L performance, explaining variances to forecast, and identifying underlying trends
* Complete balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring robust evidence for provisions, deferrals, and payroll-related items
* Support the Finance Manager with annual budgets and forecasts while driving continuous process improvements
* Produce contractual customer reporting packs, maintaining strong communication with stakeholders and resolving or escalating financial queries
What you need to succeed at GXO:
Previous experience working as an Assistant Accountant or within a finance/accounts environment
* Flexibility to respond positively and accurately to internal and external customer requests
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret P&L performance, explain variances, and spot trends
* Confident in completing balance sheet reconciliations with clear supporting evidence
* Excellent PC skills, including strong Excel capability (pivot tables, formulas, data manipulation)
* Clear and confident communication skills, able to manage stakeholder queries effectively
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple sites
* Proactive approach to continuous improvement and enhancing finance processes
