Housing Options Officer – 12-Week Contract
📍 Location: Mid Devon (hybrid working available)
💰 PAYE: £17.12 per hour | Ltd: £20.75 per hour
🕒 Full-time | 12-week temporary contract
Are you an experienced housing professional looking to make a real impact in the lives of those facing housing challenges?
We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Devon for a Housing Options Officer to join their dedicated Housing Services team for an initial 12-week assignment. This role is key to delivering high-quality advice, homelessness prevention, and housing allocations to residents in need.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored housing advice and support to those at risk of homelessness or in housing need.
Assess and determine homelessness applications in line with relevant legislation.
Manage housing register applications under the Devon Home Choice scheme.
Work closely with Housing Associations and other partners to ensure appropriate allocations.
Arrange and monitor temporary accommodation, including Bed & Breakfast placements.
Maintain up-to-date records and contribute to statutory reporting and returns.What We’re Looking For:
Previous experience working in housing advice, homelessness prevention, or social housing.
A good working knowledge of housing legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to sensitively support vulnerable individuals.
Strong administrative and IT skills with the ability to manage a diverse caseload.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.Why Apply?
