NHS Locum Consultant Oncologist at MAX FORTUNE, INC.
We are seeking a qualified Consultant in Medical or Clinical Oncology to lead our multidisciplinary oncology service at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust, with occasional duties at Kettering General Hospital as part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN) NHS Group. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term post that offers the opportunity to specialise in one or more tumour sites and to contribute to research, service development, and education.
Job Summary
This role offers a chance to develop a specialist portfolio, participate in academic and leadership activities, and work with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including radiotherapy and systemic anti‑cancer therapy suites, alongside Consultant Radiographers, Pharmacists, and Nurse Specialists.
Responsibilities
* Structured as 10 Programmed Activities (PAs):
o 8.5 PAs for Direct Clinical Care (DCC)
o 1.5 PAs for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA)
o 1 in 12 on‑call commitments
* Work flexibly in line with the Consultant Contract and departmental needs.
* Support professional activities such as revalidation, appraisal, audit, CPD, mortality and morbidity meetings, and mandatory training.
* Opportunity to take on Clinical Lead roles, departmental initiatives, and serve as a Clinical Supervisor for trainees.
Essential Qualifications & Training
* Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
* Hold the MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification.
Desirable Qualifications & Training
* MD, PhD or other higher degree.
* Education/Medical Education qualification (preferably at Masters level).
* Oncology sub‑specialist accreditation or equivalent.
* Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving it in a relevant specialty.
Teaching / Audit & QI
Essential
* Experience of Audit and Quality Improvement.
* Experience of Teaching Junior Staff.
* Experience of Undergraduate Teaching.
Desirable
* Experience in Curriculum development and delivery.
Management Experience
Essential
* Effective team worker, valuing the experience and contributing.
* Demonstrable team leadership skills and experience.
Desirable
* Understanding and experience of delivering organisational change.
Other Requirements
