Role Overview
The System Architect defines and delivers the shared technical and architectural vision for the Agile Release Train (ART). Working across global teams, the role ensures systems, infrastructure, and applications are effectively integrated, aligned to business needs, and built for scale, quality, and reuse.
Partnering with Product Managers and the Release Train Engineer (RTE), the System Architect guides feature teams, builds the architectural runway, and aligns solutions with Enterprise standards. The role also provides technical leadership, mentoring, and expertise in engineering and architecture best practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Define and communicate the architecture vision, translating it into Epics, Features, and Stories.
2. Ensure solutions align with business priorities, enterprise architecture, and evolving business needs.
3. Support DevOps practices and the continuous delivery pipeline; contribute to release governance.
4. Promote built-in quality, defining and managing non-functional requirements (NFRs).
5. Collaborate with teams to evolve design, validate implementation, and drive sustainable practices.
6. Maintain architecture documentation, system tools, and technical assets.
Experience & Competencies
Essential
7. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or equivalent experience.
8. Extensive experience in technical architecture and IT solution development (front-end, back-end, or middleware).
9. Track record of designing and delivering modern architectures with strong grasp of architectural principles.
10. Experience working in Agile environments and understanding of the product lifecycle.
11. Exposure to multiple technologies and enterprise-scale environments.
12. Strong technical leadership, with the ability to mentor and influence teams.
13. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
14. Hands-on enterprise systems development experience (C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++ or similar).
15. Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP), containerisation, and microservices.
16. Strong knowledge of APIs, system integration, and DevOps (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, Git).
17. Understanding of security practices (application, cloud, authentication, authorisation).

18. Experience with front-office/trader-facing applications and services.
19. Exposure to Inter-Dealer Broking environments.
20. Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
21. Familiarity with micro-frontend architecture.
22. Experience optimising financial services technology solutions.
