Facility Supervisor (Caretaker) – St Albans Primary School, Walker
Newcastle City Council City Operations, Transport and Neighbours seeks a Facility Supervisor (caretaker) to be based at St Albans Primary School, Walker. The role is full‑time: 37.0 hours per week across a split shift (Mon‑Thu 7.00‑11.00 & 14.30‑18.00; Fri 7.00‑11.00 & 14.30‑17.30).
Why this role matters
You will be responsible for the security of the premises, setting alarms, general health and safety, porterage duties, and supervising cleaning staff. You will manage your own time and adapt to varying workloads, support special school events, and be available for lettings when required.
Qualifications and skills
* Good communication skills and the ability to work with limited supervision
* Strong customer service and a commitment to high standards of service delivery
* Capacity for regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying of equipment, materials and furniture
* Ability to undertake split shift requirements
* Experience caring for a school is an advantage
* Fluent in written and spoken English
* Flexible approach to work, hours and locations
* Experience of working with children and young people
* Capacity to meet fixed deadlines and manage own time
* Commitment to child, youth and adult safeguarding; willingness to undertake required training and checks (DBS, criminal record, barred list)
* Full driving licence for occasional minibus duties (optional)
