An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Software Team Leader to join a global leader in design and manufacturing in Cambridgeshire. As the company undergoes rapid expansion, they seek expertise to transform and strengthen logistics operations to support a growing customer base.
As the Software Team Leader in Cambridgeshire, you will report to the Technical Director and manage the Software team. You will coordinate software development activities and be responsible for all aspects of the software development process, including design and development of software for new products, maintenance of software for existing products, and development of supporting tools and systems used in testing and production.
Your role will involve coordinating activities across multiple sites and departments to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead by example with hands-on software engineering expertise.
2. Act as the main point of contact for software/firmware.
3. Report on team plans and progress, and identify opportunities for team support.
4. Manage line responsibilities including mentoring, coaching, development (objectives, skills matrix, training plan, budget), and recruitment.
5. Own the budget and manage tools and systems related to your team, such as GitLab, compilers, and debugging equipment.
Requirements:
* Proven track record of delivering high-quality software, especially in regulated environments.
* Extensive experience in embedded C development for microcontroller systems, with knowledge of other languages like Python.
* Expertise in Git for source control, with knowledge of GitLab being advantageous.
* Ability to manage, lead, and coach team members to improve engineering practices.
