Personal Care Teaching Assistant (TA) - Wellingborough

About the Role
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Teaching Assistant to support pupils in special provision schools in and around Wellingborough. This role is essential for pupils who require assistance with intimate personal care, mobility, feeding, and toileting, in addition to supporting their learning and inclusion in the classroom. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, under the guidance of SEND coordinators, teachers and senior support staff, ensuring pupils' dignity, safety and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist pupils with personal care tasks (toileting, washing, feeding, changing) in a sensitive, respectful and professional manner.
2. Support pupils with mobility needs: transferring, repositioning, use of mobility aids.
3. Monitor health and wellbeing, reporting concerns to relevant staff.
4. Help pupils access the curriculum: one-to-one or small group support during lessons.
5. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
6. Liaise with teachers, parents, therapeutic services.
7. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with safeguarding and health & safety policies.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
8. Previous experience working with children or young people with high personal care needs.
9. Patience, empathy, strong interpersonal skills.
10. Good communication skills, ability to follow care / medical plans.
11. First Aid training an advantage.
12. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
