Operations Sort Supervisor

Shift: Friday to Monday 2.00 to 13.00
As DHL continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated and experienced Operations Supervisor to support and lead our warehouse and ramp operations at London Heathrow. This is a key frontline leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, safety‑critical environment and enjoys developing people while delivering operational excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Operations Supervisor, you will play a critical role in the day‑to‑day running of warehouse and ramp activities, ensuring operational requirements and performance standards are consistently achieved through clear direction, strong communication and hands‑on leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
* Organising and supervising daily warehouse and ramp operations to ensure safe, efficient and compliant service delivery
* Providing daily team briefings and planning and coordinating daily sort activity
* Delivering the Daily Performance Dialogue Board and driving productivity and engagement
* Coaching, developing and motivating employees through visible role‑model behaviours, supporting succession planning
* Monitoring and reporting on supplier performance to maintain high service levels
* Producing and analysing productivity and performance reports, identifying issues and recommending improvements to the Operations Manager
* Setting, measuring and reviewing team targets and individual objectives
* Supporting recruitment, onboarding and training of new employees
* Leading people management activities including time and absence management, conflict handling, disciplinary and grievance processes
* Conducting quarterly one‑to‑one performance and development discussions with team members
* Supervising and controlling network equipment (ULDs, CMPs, G bins) to meet LHR operational requirements
* Ensuring routing and timing changes are communicated and implemented effectively
* Covering the AM Operations Manager during periods of absence
* Supporting operational project work as directed

What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
* Sound knowledge of commercial airline operations (beneficial)
* Strong understanding of DHL network operations or logistics
* Dangerous Goods Category 10 qualification (beneficial)
* IOSH (beneficial)
* Ability to pass Advanced ULD Courses
* Demonstrated experience supervising operational teams in a fast‑paced environment
* Strong decision‑making ability and confidence to take operational ownership
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead positively and professionally
* A supportive leadership style with a focus on coaching and development
