As a Mechanical Engineer you will provide specialist technical support and advice, involving design assessment, the examination of pressurized and hazardous content systems, and nuclear transport packages.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provision of an independent design verification service within Springfields, catering for new, in-service and repaired equipment within the following categories:
2. Pressure Vessels
3. Bulk hazardous content equipment
4. Piping systems
5. Mechanical safety accessories and relief streams
6. Nuclear transport packages
7. Create new and amending existing Written Schemes of Examination for pressure and hazardous content systems.
8. Approval of quality plans and concessions associated with the in-house manufacture and repair of equipment.
9. Lead Authoritative Technical Reviews associated with changes to Written Schemes of Examinations.
10. Provision of technical guidance to personnel at all levels of the organisation on the above shared categories.
11. Some organisation/planning of contractor inspection resource.
Qualifications:
1. Graduate Mechanical Engineer or equivalent in a relevant discipline or working towards graduate mechanical engineer status with relevant pressure/hazardous content systems experience.
2. Experience of the inspection of pressure systems in accordance with the PSSRs.
3. Practical interpretation and application of national and international codes and standards for designing pressure vessels, piping systems and associated safety accessories.
4. Incorporated Engineer or working towards achieving professional registration.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
1. Thorough Understanding of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations and the Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations.
2. Good understanding of NDT techniques.
3. Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques and standards for the manufacture and repair of pressure and hazardous content equipment.
4. Experience of a wide range of materials used within industrial/chemical plant applications and associated properties.
