The BT Group Occupational Health Nurse Advisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of our colleagues across the organisation. Working in partnership with the Senior Occupational Health Physician and our Occupational Health Provider’s clinical team, you’ll help ensure the highest standards of occupational health advice are delivered to the business at all times.
Building strong stakeholder relationships will be key to your success in this role. As a subject matter expert in health, you’ll promote quality, evidence-based practice and leverage data and insights to design and implement health and wellbeing programmes, products, and procedures that support both the mental and physical wellbeing of our people.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across People & Culture Services, our Wellbeing Leads, and the Inclusion, Safety, and Legal teams. Together, your contributions will help promote positive change, remove barriers, and enhance the overall colleague experience.
What you’ll be doing
•Develop and deliver Occupational Health and Wellbeing programmes that support the mental and physical health of our people.
•Provide expert OH advice to the People Relations team on complex case management, sickness absence, and rehabilitation.
•Partner with the Senior Occupational Health Physician to ensure clinical governance, quality, and compliance across all OH activities.
•Oversee BT Group health standards and screening programmes, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
•Act as the clinical lead on RIDDOR reporting and health surveillance, working closely with Group Safety and external health partners.
•Support BT’s response to workplace incidents or health emergencies, including infectious disease management and business continuity planning.
•Use data and insights to drive improvements in case management, health policy, and wellbeing strategy.
•Build strong relationships with stakeholders across People & Culture, Wellbeing, Safety, Legal, and DEI teams to promote a culture of health and wellbeing.
The skills you'll need to succeed
•Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and compliant with NMC revalidation requirements.
•Occupational Health diploma or degree, ideally registered on Part 3 of the NMC – Specialist Community Public Health Nursing.
•Certificate in Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (Tier 3).
•Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely (desirable).
•Mental Health certification (desirable).
•Competence in undertaking Noise Health Surveillance.
•Extensive experience in Occupational Health within both the private sector and the NHS, with a strong background in neurodiversity, mental health, OH case management, and health surveillance assessments.
•Proven ability to design, develop, and deliver workplace health promotion and wellbeing programmes.
