SEN Tribunal and Mediation Manager - 05665
West Berkshire Council is seeking a Tribunals and Mediation Manager to join the Education Services team, reporting to the Interim Principal SEN Manager. This role focuses on the effective management and delivery of education services, with a focus on supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Responsibilities
* Managing and overseeing the Tribunal and Mediation services, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to requests and appeals.
* Providing expert advice and guidance on SEND legislation, regulations, and statutory requirements.
* Representing the Local Authority in discussions with Legal Services and preparing cases to be presented at SEND Tribunals, including preparing evidence for the Local Government Ombudsman.
* Acting as a first point of contact for pre- and post-hearing queries, coordinating information between the parties involved, and managing internal and external communications.
* Maintaining accurate and timely records and producing reports or data in a user-friendly format for internal and external users.
* Working closely with all parties to ensure they are informed and supported throughout the process.
Qualifications and Skills
* Extensive knowledge and experience in managing Tribunal and Mediation services, specifically within the context of SEND.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
* In-depth understanding of SEND legislation, including the Equality Act 2010 and Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice.
* Proficient in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to use information to drive service improvements.
* Highly organized, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
