Job Description
A position exists, for a Research Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on research in the fields of techno-economic analysis of water treatment technologies.
The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
The key responsibilities and duties are:
* Assemble and harmonize data on alternative desalination treatment trains required for techno-economic analysis
* Explore system designs and related economic viability of alternative desalination treatment trains
* Analyze the energy, water and cost implications of alternative desalination technologies
* Contribute to research proposals and writing bids for research grants
* Write peer reviewed academic publications of the highest standards of significance and impact
* Supervise less experienced researchers and PhD students
* Develop skills and networks to become a successful independent researcher, including through grant writing, independent papers, consulting, trainings
The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are:
* PhD in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
* At least one first authored publication in a referred journal
* Strong record of productive and creative research, demonstrated by presentations at scientific conferences
* Experience in developing system-scale models of water treatment technologies
* Experience constructing datasets required for techno-economic analysis of water treatment technologies
* Understanding and knowledge of a wide range of desalination and water treatment technologies
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD.
Salary Ranges:
Research Associate: £37,694 - £46,049
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 August 2028 in the first instance.
