Veterinary surgeon - small animal

Dunfermline
Inglis Vets Hospital, Dunfermline
Veterinary surgeon
Posted: 3 August
Offer description

Inglis Vets have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our large, friendly team.

In this role, you will have a good mixture of hospital shifts, where we see more complex cases and provide intensive treatment and hospitalization, supported by RVNS, ACAs, and Client Care. Additionally, branch shifts allow access to routine work within a smaller team, helping you develop a caseload of clients from the local community.

We are happy to consider both full- and part-time applications; full-time would be 4 days per week, Monday to Friday.

Our in-house Out of Hours service and coverage for small local practices provide excellent emergency and critical care opportunities. Night Nurses work onsite overnight, with duty shifts typically on a 1 in 12 rotation, including weekend day shifts.

About Us

We are a busy, well-established vet practice with a main hospital and 8 branches in Fife and Central Scotland, offering excellent care plans and our own out-of-hours services. Our Cowdenbeath Branch is a clinical training centre for RDSVS Vet Students, and our Hospital Hill branch features a hydrotherapy treadmill. The branches are accessible in Fife and Central Scotland, with easy access to Edinburgh, Fife beaches, and Perthshire. A full driving license and own transportation are required.

About the Team and Culture

Our passionate team of 100 employees includes around 40 RVNs and ACAs, 30 Vets, and 30 Support Staff. We have visiting specialists and are committed to professional development, with vets studying for certificates, new graduates, and student nurses.

Because Our People Matter

We value our staff and invest in their wellbeing and development, offering a competitive salary, work-life balance, 6.8 weeks annual leave, a paid birthday day off, private medical insurance, family-friendly policies, cycle scheme, wellbeing initiatives, and support for non-accidental injuries.

Development opportunities include a £1250 CPD allowance with 5 days paid pro rata, access to the IVC Evidensia Academy, Vetlexicon, research funding, and a £1250 annual Care Fund. We also participate in infection prevention, quality improvement, and professional memberships such as BVA and VDS.

Additional Benefits

Pawsome Benefits discount scheme, pension scheme (5% employee, 3% employer), staff pet care discounts, and a salary up to £65,000.
