The role of Medical Secretary is vital to the smooth running of our practice. We are seeking a professional who is highly organised, efficient, and able to communicate effectively with clinicians, staff, and patients in a busy environment.
The successful candidate will provide a high level of administrative and secretarial support to our clinical team, including managing correspondence, maintaining accurate patient records, and liaising with external healthcare providers. Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and a proactive approach to workload management are essential.
Main duties of the job
* To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals and management team as required.
* Update SOPs as necessary.
* Liaise with secondary and primary care colleagues with regards to waiting times and correspondence.
* To assist the Management Team with all clerical and administrative duties.
* File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records.
* To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
* To maintain the clinical system in an accurate and secure manner.
* Apply practice policies, standards and guidance.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Secretary to join our Secretarial Team to provide support to the doctors and health professionals and Management Team. The post holder will need to be proficient in audio typing and word processing and will require excellent communication skills. The successful candidate must be flexible in their approach and be able to use their own initiative.
Job responsibilities:

Medical Secretary skills and qualifications
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
Computer literacy, including a working knowledge of relevant programs, such as Word and Excel.
* Good spelling and grammar for typing clinical and administrative letters and other correspondence.
High level of written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and independently.
AMSPAR medical secretarial or City and Guilds equivalent qualification preferred.
Knowledge of the electronic referral system preferred.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience working in primary care or previous Medical Secretary.
Qualifications
* Ideally candidates will have AMSPAR or City and Guilds equivalent qualification.
